My 2018 Word of The Year

I first discovered the idea of ‘Word of the Year’ a couple of years ago when I came across Danielle LaPorte’s book, The Desire Map. In this book she talks about Core Desired Feelings. This is a great post by her that explains a bit more about it along with a bit of a challenge. I really love this idea as it can extend to any part of our lives and gives a more positive slant on setting a resolution. This word of the year or desired feeling can also be used to assist us in setting new resolutions or goals. What I also like about it is that, for me, it is not about ‘New Year, New Me’ it’s about making the existing me that bit better in different ways.

My word of the year for 2018 is GROWTH.

word of the year

This applies to both my personal life and my professional life. I want to grow as a person and I’ve got some plans in that respect, as well as growing my knowledge and abilities in my hobbies. I want to grow as a knitter, I want to grow as a sewer, I want to grow as a runner, I want to grow as a writer, I want our house to grow and bloom, I want our garden to grow as well as my gardening skills.

I want to grow my blog and my business, I want to grow the number of people I can help, I want to grow my knowledge and abilities,

Here is a video from my gorgeous friend, Lucy Sheridan, on how to choose your word of the year.

What is your word of the year? Have you ever had a word of the year before? I’d love to know. Let me know in the comments!

Great word! I’m on my third year doing this. It has grown for me each year, gaining more meaning as time goes on. My word this year will be ‘seize’. I have wasted too much time in the past putting stuff off. Well, no more 😉
